Loren by the proverbial mile

The latest Pulse Asia survey, conducted between February 28 and March 5, should gladden Loren Legarda’s heart. It shows her leading all senatorial candidates with a vote-for index of 56.8 percent. Ping Lacson and Kiko Pangilinan, the topnotcher in the Social Weather Stations February 2007 survey, are distant also-rans, with ratings of 41.1 and 39.4.

A quick read of the results (I hope to return to this topic a little later): Alan Cayetano’s candidacy seems to have stalled, at (a still high) 30.9. The campaigns of Vic Magsaysay and Sonia Roco have improved their fortunes the most (they are now among the 17 candidates with a shot at landing in the Top 12). Ed Angara’s TV campaign is working (the ad featuring Sarah Geronimo, who seems to me to be a rather bland media-manufactured celebrity, is especially effective); now, at 32.1, he shares 4th to 10th place. And actor Richard Gomez continues to languish in the low double-digits.
